Complex mental development programmes for individual competitors, club teams, and national teams.

Mentors & Partners Group in Sport

Mentors & Partners Group launched its first sports development programme in 2007.

After many years of business success, the founders’ first private mentoring partner decided to sponsor a football team in one of Europe’s top leagues. He asked the founders to create a mental development programme for football based on the RISE Human Development System, which had been the foundation of his business success for six years. From the beginning of the research and development phase, it was clear that there were many similarities between team development in sports and the business world, so the foundations of the system were easily translated into the new field. However, it was also clear that there are also very significant differences in the way a business organisation and a sports team need to be assessed and coached to achieve success. The most crucial difference is that while in business, crucial decisions, real “crisis situations”, are infrequent and even rare, in sports, they are very intense, from the first second of a match—even in the days, weeks, or months before the match. Since the first development started, we have developed 42 club teams (18 men’s, 24 women’s) who have achieved their goals 62 times, achieved the best results in the club’s history 17 times, won the domestic championship 14 times, and been winners of international cup competitions 7 times. We have carried out the complex mental development of 28 national teams (11 men, 17 women), who have achieved their country’s best results in international tournaments on 33 occasions, winning 16 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals, as well as several historic successes in continental championships, world championships, and the Olympics. Mentors & Partners Group was the first in the history of the sport to provide a complex mental development programme for Olympians. At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, we were involved in coaching 14 teams and 62 individual athletes, and provided complex mentoring for 4 national teams and 11 individual athletes. Our athletes won 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals, and achieved 4 5th-place finishes at the Games. And 3 teams and 9 individual athletes achieved historic successes in Tokyo. In the course of our work, we have developed 18 academies. Our development projects have focused on team sports such as football, handball, basketball, water polo, hockey, and individual/technical sports such as athletics, swimming, fencing, martial arts, and shooting.
The basis of our development in sport is the globally unique RISE Human Development System, which perfectly interprets and defines athletes’ decision-making mechanisms, behaviours, and reactions during peacetime and in a crisis. It interprets the differences and manages the resulting challenges (for more information on the RISE System, please visit:

Mentors & Partners Group constructs and manages mental preparation programmes that go well beyond the traditional psychological approaches used in sports. The programmes focus on defining, planning, and managing the decision-making mechanism of individuals, the team as a whole, the head coach, the entire technical staff supporting the team, and the mental analysis of the opponents and referees. Therefore, they concentrate on all the elements necessary for fighting the mental battles needed to achieve results. Thus, team development, head coach mentoring, and opponent profiling are essential modules for mental preparation.
Mentors & Partners Group develops only one team within a specific championship or league. Thus, MPG provides athletes with distinct advantages in mental combat. Our collaborations are strictly confidential, ensuring a relationship with our partners built on deep trust.
We run a limited number of development programmes at any one time, as we provide all our partners with the highest level of commitment and expertise. In this respect, we deviate significantly from the methodology generally used in the market. We provide our partners with a continuous and stable background to successfully address all the challenges related to mental development in a timely and successful manner.

CLUB TEAM MENTORING

For club teams, mental mentoring refers to building a team to achieve the goals set by the management – the owner, management, etc. – by mentally preparing the team, mentoring the team during championships/tournaments, managing challenges that arise, complex mentoring of the head coach, mental assessment of opponents, the definition of a mental strategy based on this and then support for its operational implementation translated into the sport during the match, player monitoring, the assessment of new players and the development and management of the team’s player integration process, and the mental development of athletes at the individual and team level. In other words, complex mental mentoring ensures that the team can surpass its technical and physical potential. The programmes are tailored to each team’s specific needs, as each team has different objectives and athlete profiles, and, consequently, different mental advantages and challenges. Mentoring is based on the RISE Human Development System, which offers unique benefits in sports.

Our development approach ensures the club’s core business objectives are met while maximising the team’s performance.

MENTORING FOR YOUTH ACADEMIES

Mentoring for youth academies is a specialised field; currently, only Mentors & Partner Group can provide a complex solution for its partners. The scope and objectives of academies are complex and multi-dimensional. Their primary responsibility is to educate young people and prepare them for a life as athletes, which naturally includes appropriate selection and development processes. But, alongside this, academies need to make a significant contribution to each child’s successful future. The aims of each academy may vary, and the development strategy needs to be structured accordingly. A significant advantage of Mentors & Partners Group in this area is that it provides the knowledge and background necessary to achieve business objectives, such as building and developing the academy’s brand and image (which is important in attracting and retaining potential athletes), managing communications work and building the academy’s business concept. In addition to this, MPG provides mental development mentoring for the academy’s junior teams, coaches, and staff to ensure that young people undergo the proper mental development during their academy years. In many cases, the business and mental development areas are developed separately, but the Academy’s objectives and the translation of these into mental development programmes are key elements in the development of athletes and teams. We also manage academy development in team and individual sports in countries across North America, South America, and Europe.

Evidence selection profiling

Mentors & Partners Group’s outstanding success is based on a unique data collection and analysis system that uses information available online to create personality profiles fit for building mental strategy. The unique analysis centre can identify the key personality traits of an athlete, coach, referee, or sports professional through precise video analysis, social media profiling, and interview and commentary assessments. It defines that person’s mental advantages and disadvantages that can be expected during competitive situations, thus revealing that person’s weak points. The ESP experts are constantly building up and improving upon their sizable database. ESP’s database currently includes analyses of top individual and team athletes and is continuously expanding with each project. ESP can be applied to player selection, opponent analysis, head coach mentoring to determine match strategy and tactics, building communication templates to influence referees, and overall, it can have a major impact on a team’s results. ESP currently has a database of tens of thousands of players in club settings, including the Premier League, Bundesliga, NBA, NFL, and La Liga, but also as a basis for mental preparation at the national team level for continental and world championships. Tokyo was the first Olympics where ESP was used as a basic element for the preparation of national teams and individual athletes, resulting in 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 4 bronze medals, and many historic successes (personal and national records).
